Black & Decker

Brand Description

The history of Black & Decker dates back to 1910 when S. Duncan Black and Alonzo G. Decker co-founded the company in Baltimore, Maryland. Their vision was to revolutionize the tool industry by creating power tools that were both innovative and affordable. In 1917, Black & Decker introduced the world's first portable electric drill, featuring a pistol grip and a trigger switch, which soon became a staple in the industry and set the standard for drills that continues to this day. Over the decades, Black & Decker expanded its product line and entered new markets, firmly establishing itself as a household name in power tools and home improvement. In 1960, the company went public, further spurring its growth and expansion. The merger with Stanley Works in 2010 to form Stanley Black & Decker was a significant milestone, creating one of the world's largest tool companies, further cementing its place in the market.
