Founded in 1992, Palm started as a software company with the creation of the Palm Pilot, which became one of the first successful personal digital assistants (PDAs). Over the years, Palm expanded its offerings to include smartphones, most notably the Treo line, which integrated mobile phone capabilities with PDA features. The company faced challenges in the competitive smartphone market and was acquired by Hewlett-Packard in 2010, eventually leading to its dissolution. Despite its decline, Palm is often credited with influencing modern mobile technology.
