Ford

Ford Motor Company is an American multinational corporation and the world's largest automaker based on worldwide vehicle sales, following closely behind Toyota. Based in Dearborn, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit, the automaker was founded by Henry Ford in 1903. Having gone bankrupt in 1906, Ford left control of the company to his son, Edsel Ford, who also died in 1943. Henry Ford's grandson, Henry Ford II, took control and restored the company's financial health until 1957 when he was forced to cede a 49% stake in the company to the United Auto Workers (UAW) in order to avoid a strike at his plants.
