OnStar was founded in 1996 and initially launched its services in 1997. It was designed to provide drivers with the ability to connect to emergency services and receive assistance while on the road. Over the years, OnStar has evolved its offerings to include a variety of connected services, including remote vehicle diagnostics, navigation, and vehicle tracking. In 2011, OnStar became a standalone subsidiary of General Motors and has since expanded its services beyond just GM vehicles.
