Honeywell traces its roots back to 1885, when it was founded as the Butz Thermo-Electric Regulator Company in Minneapolis. However, the Honeywell we recognize today is the result of multiple mergers and partnerships. In 1906, Mark Honeywell founded the Honeywell Heating Specialty Company in Wabash, Indiana. Through the ensuing decades, Honeywell grew rapidly, acquiring and merging with several companies, most notably in 1927 with the merging of the Mark Honeywell company with the Minneapolis Heat Regulator Company, creating what was initially named the Minneapolis-Honeywell Regulator Company. The mid-20th century marked a period of diversification and expansion for the company. Honeywell ventured into the aerospace industry, a decision which positioned it as a key player in the sector. The 1980s and 1990s saw further expansion, including notable mergers such as with AlliedSignal in 1999, which was the largest industrial merger at that time. The company adopted the Honeywell name due to its worldwide recognition. Since then, Honeywell has continued to diversify its technology and industrial offerings, consistently aligning its strategies with emerging global trends and technology needs.
