Delta was founded on May 30, 1924, as a crop dusting operation called Huff Daland Dusters in Macon, Georgia. The airline transitioned to passenger service in 1929 and adopted the name Delta Air Service. Over the decades, Delta expanded through mergers and acquisitions, including notable mergers with Northwest Airlines in 2008 and with other regional carriers, solidifying its position as one of the leading airlines globally.
