WARNING

Exhaust Fumes:

Do not start your vehicle in a closed
garage or any other enclosed area.
Exhaust fumes can be toxic. Always
open the garage door before you
start the engine.

Preparing Your Vehicle

1. Occupants should fasten their seat

belts.

2. Make sure your headlights and other

accessories are turned off when start-
ing.

3. Make sure the parking brake is on.

4.

Manual Transmission

—Push the

clutch pedal to the floor.
Keep the pedal to the floor while
starting the engine.

Automatic Transmission

—Place

the gearshift selector lever in P (Park).

5. Turn the key to ON without turning

the key to START.

If there is difficulty in turning the key,
firmly rotate the steering wheel left and
right until the key turns freely. This
condition may occur when:

S

front wheels are turned

S

front wheel is against the curb

S

steering wheel is turned when getting
in or out of the vehicle.
