CAUTION

Ignoring the following precautions
could cause lead to accumulate on
the catalyst inside the converter or
cause the converter to get very hot.
Either condition will damage the
converter and cause poor perfor-
mance.

USE ONLY UNLEADED FUEL.

S

Don’t drive your Mazda with any
sign of engine malfunction.

S

Don’t coast with the ignition
switch turned off.

S

Don’t descend steep grades in
gear with the ignition switch
turned off.

Don’t operate the engine at high
idle for more than 5 minutes.

S

Don’t tamper with the emission
control system. All inspection
and adjustments must be made by
a qualified technician.

S

Don’t try to push-start or pull-
start your vehicle.

Lumination of the charging system
warning light or CHECK ENGINE light,
fluid leaks, strange odors, smoke or loss
of oil pressure could indicate that the
emission control system is not working
properly.

WARNING

Engine exhaust, some of its constit-
uents, and certain vehicle compo-
nents contain or emit chemicals
known to the State of California to
cause cancer, and birth defects or
other reproductive harm.
