Safety chains

Safety chains must be used as a precau-
tionary measure in case the trailer
becomes unintentionally unhitched.
They should cross under the trailer
tongue and attach to the vehicle frame or
hook retainers. Leave enough slack to
allow full turns. Consult literature pub-
lished by your trailer or hitch manufac-
turer for more details.

CAUTION

Never attach chains to the bumper.

t

Fuel consumption

Trailer towing causes higher fuel con-
sumption.

Suspension Modifications

The suspension and steering systems on
your vehicle have been designed and
tested to provide predictable perfor-
mance (whether loaded or empty) as
well as durable load carrying capability.

Any modifications to the suspension
or steering systems can reduce your
vehicle’s performance capability and
adversely affect driver and passenger
safety.

Mazda recommends that you DO NOT
make modifications such as adding or
removing parts (like lowering or lifting
kits, stabilizer bars or snowplowing
equipment) or by using replacement parts
non-equivalent to the original factory
equipment.
