WARNING

Removing the Propeller Shaft:
When removing/installing the pro-
peller shaft, the parking brake must
be set and the wheels must be
blocked to ensure the vehicle does
not roll during this procedure.

Manual transmission with all four
wheels on the ground:

S

Maximum speed is 55 mph (88 km/h),
unlimited distance.

Limited vehicle operation, such as
driving the vehicle while at a campsite,
can be accomplished with the rear pro-
peller shaft removed by using the front
drive to propel the vehicle. To operate

the vehicle in this condition, you must
follow the following guidelines:

S

Place the transfer case in 4H by rotat-
ing the electronic shift transfer case
(2WD/4x4) knob to 4WD HIGH.

S

Drive the vehicle only on good sur-
face roads to avoid excessive loads
on the front-wheel drive system.

S

Maximum speed is 35 mph (56 km/hr).

S

Maximum distance is 50 miles (80 km).

S

Avoid quick acceleration and steep
grades.

To return the vehicle to a towable condi-
tion, you must:

S

Place the transfer case in 2WD by
rotating the electronic shift transfer
case (2WD/4x4) knob to 2WD.

NOTE

Both the 4x4 and 4x4 LOW indicator
lights in the instrument cluster will
be off when the transfer case is in
2WD.

S

Confirm the front hubs are unlocked
by inspecting the front propeller shaft
to verify it does not turn when the
vehicle is towed.

In addition to the above guidelines, it is
recommended that you follow the instruc-
tions provided by the manufacturer of the
towing apparatus.
