Vehicles left in long-term storage (4 weeks or longer) that have biodiesel in the fuel system may form corrision and
develop sticking components such as fuel pumps and fuel injectors. This is caused by sticky polymers and acids formed
during the biodiesel aging/oxidation process.
DIESEL FUELS BETWEEN B6 AND B20 OR HIGHER POSE RISKS OF ENGINE AND FUEL SYSTEM DAMAGE AND ARE
RESTRICTED BY MAZDA.
Please refer to the following recommendations to help avoid engine and fuel system damage
if you cannot refuel your vehicle continuously with ULSD, maximim B5:
-Fill up with ULSD (B5 or less) whenever possible, from a name brand fuel station.
-Regularily monitor your engine oil level if you have no choice but to use B20 fuel.
-Strictly follow the oil change intervals displayed in your instrument cluster or your owner’s manual and use
ONLY
engines oils and filters approved by Mazda for use in your vehicle.
-If you do not plan to drive your vehicle for several weeks, fill your vehicle’s fuel tank in advance with ULSD fuel.
-Limit engine idling time to five minutes or as mandated by your local ordinance.
If the engine will not start or idle properly after the storage period, an authorized Mazda dealer may have to replace
some of the fuel system components and pump out the fuel tank at owner expense. So never store your vehicle with
anything other than Mazda-approved b-5 ultra low sulfer diesel fuel.
