Foot Brake 22
BRAKE OFF
Step all the way down on the brake pedal. The brake is
"off" and you can travel.
Note:
Slowing or stopping the truck by plugging (see
page 23), requires power to the drive motor. You must
have the brake pedal all the way down for plugging
to work.
BRAKE ON
Take your foot off of the brake pedal to apply the
brake. When you release the brake pedal, power is cut
to the drive motor. Remember, with the brake applied,
you can't use plugging, (see page 23).
Know the Hazards
MAKE SURE YOUR BRAKES WORK
Test the brake on your truck at the start of each shift.
Know the distance it takes to stop before you start
working.
If at any time the stopping distance is too long for you
to stop safely, don't drive the truck. Report any
problem to your supervisor.
