NOTE

When the lap/shoulder belt is un-
buckled and allowed to retract com-
pletely, the retractor will switch to
the emergency locking mode.

WARNING

No Passengers in Cargo Area:
Do not allow any people to ride in
the cargo area of your vehicle.
People who are not riding in seats
with their seat belts fastened are
much more likely to be injured in a
collision.

WARNING

Twisted Seat Belts:
Twisted seat belts can cause injury.
In a collision, the full width of the
belt isn’t available to absorb the
impact. This puts more force on the
bones beneath the belt, which could
break them or cause other serious
injury. If you cannot untwist or
unjam the seat belt, see your nearest
qualified technician immediately.
Never drive or ride with twisted seat
belts.

NOTE

Refer to page 2-15 for more informa-
tion on how to untwist a seat belt.

WARNING

One Belt, One Passenger:
Using one seat belt for more than
one person at a time is dangerous.
A seat belt used in this way can’t
spread the impact force properly
and the two passengers could be
crushed together and seriously
injured. Never use one belt for more
than one person at a time.
