Exhaust System Modifications
WARNING
Exhaust System Modifications:
Modifying your vehicle exhaust
system is dangerous. Exhaust gas
entering the vehicle could kill you.
When mounting the trailer hitch,
make no modifications to the vehi-
cle exhaust system. Regularly
check the exhaust system for any
leaks. Leaks under or near the cab
or under a camper-covered bed are
dangerous. Pay close attention to
possible leaks around the mounting
bolts.
Temperature Gauge
Constantly monitor the coolant tem-
perature gauge.
The extra weight of the
trailer may strain the engine on hot days
and on long or steep upgrades.
Overheated Engine
Your vehicle’s engine coolant protects
the engine from overheating in the sum-
mer and from freezing in the winter.
Check the level of the engine coolant at
least once a month. Look at the engine
coolant recovery reservoir located in the
engine compartment. If the coolant level
is low, add a 50/50 mixture to the engine
coolant recovery reservoir. Only add a
mixture specified by Mazda.

heating’’ on page 6-3.
