The warning lights (except the brake
warning light) can be inspected before
the engine is started.
The key returns to the ON position once
the engine is started and remains in this
position while the engine runs.
J
START
The engine is started in this position. It
will crank until you release the key; then
it returns to ON. The brake warning light
can be checked in the START position.
J

The steering wheel unlocks and some
electrical accessories will operate.
J
LOCK
The steering wheel locks to protect
against theft. Only in this position can
the key be removed. If your key is stuck
in the LOCK position, move your steer-
ing wheel left or right.
J
OFF
In the OFF position you can shut off the
engine and all accessories without lock-
ing the steering wheel, or the automatic
transmission selector lever.
