WARNING

Brake Warning Light:
Driving with the brake system warn-
ing light on is dangerous. It indi-
cates that your brakes may not work
at all or that they could completely
fail at any time. If this light remains
on, have the brakes inspected imme-
diately. Don’t drive with this light on.

*Some models.

J

Antilock Brake System
(ABS) Warning Light*

The ABS warning light illuminates
momentarily when the ignition switch is
turned to the ON position. If the ABS
control unit determines that all compo-
nents are OK, it turns off the light
(page 5-43).

If the ABS brake warning light remains
on, continues to flash or fails to illumi-
nate, have the system serviced immedi-
ately. With the ABS light on, the anti-
lock brake system is disabled and normal
braking is still effective unless the brake
warning light also remains illuminated
with the parking brake released.

CAUTION

If the amber antilock brake system
warning light remains on or comes
on while driving, a fault has been
detected in the antilock brake system
and the antilock system has been
disabled. Have the braking system
checked by a qualified service tech-
nician as soon as possible. (Note: If
a fault occurs in the antilock system,
the normal brake function remains
operational.)
