The short plastic boot on the front seat
belt at the outboard anchor location
(Regular Cab, driver; Cab Plus, driver
and passenger) covers an energy absorb-
ing sew pattern on the seat belt. In the
event of an accident, the sew pattern may
release and a colored label (REPLACE
BELT) may become visible. If this
occurs, the seat belt must be replaced.
WARNING
Inspecting Seat Belts After a
Collision:
All seat belt assemblies, including
retractors, buckles, front seat buckle
support assemblies (slide bar, if so
equipped), shoulder belt height
adjusters (if equipped), child safety
seat tether bracket assemblies (if
equipped) and attaching hardware
should be inspected after any colli-
sion. Mazda recommends that all
seat belt assemblies used in vehicles
involved in a collision be replaced.
However, if the collision was minor
and a qualified technician finds
(Continued)
that the belts do not show damage
and continue to operate properly,
they do not need to be replaced. Seat
belt assemblies not in use during a
collision should also be inspected
and replaced if either damage or
improper operation is noted.
WARNING
Replace Belt Label:
If any part of the colored label is
exposed, the belt must be replaced.
Failure to do so could result in
severe personal injuries in a colli-
sion.
