C) and the engine does not

start within five seconds on the
first try, turn the key to OFF, wait
ten seconds and try again.

If the temperature is below 10

C) and the engine does not

start in fifteen seconds on the first
try, turn the key OFF and wait ten
seconds and try again. If the
engine does not start in two
attempts, press the accelerator
pedal 1/3 to 1/2 of the way to the
floor and hold. Turn the key to
START.

3. When the engine starts, release the

key, then release the accelerator
pedal gradually as the engine speeds
up.

4. After idling for a few seconds, apply

the brake and release the parking
brake.

5. If the engine still does not start,

the fuel pump shut-off switch may
have been triggered and needs to be
reset.

WARNING

Engine Idling Speed:
If the engine idling speed does not
slow down automatically, do not
allow your vehicle to idle for more
than ten minutes. Have the vehicle
checked. Extended idling at high
engine speeds can produce very high
temperatures in the engine and
exhaust system, creating the risk of
fire or other damage to the vehicle
and possibly resulting in personal
injury.
