Kernel Commands 

UEL 

Exits current printer language and returns control 
to PJL. 

 

EXECUTE 

Orders the printer to execute the specified 
operation. 

 

COMMENT 

Comments can be placed in the command line 

 

ENTER 

Selects a printer language 

Job Separation 
Commands 

JOB 

Informs printer of job start 

 

EOJ 

Informs printer of job end 

Environment 
Commands 

DEFAULT 

Sets default value 

 

SET 

Sets an environment value which is available 
during a PJL job 

 

INITIALIZE 

Resets the current and default PJL variables to 
factory values 

 

RESET 

Resets current PJL variables to default values 

Status Readback 
Commands 

INQUIRE 

Requests the current value for a specified 
environment 

 

DINQUIRE 

Requests the default value for a specified 
environment 

 

ECHO 

Returns the <words> to the host computer 

 

INFO 

Requests a specified category. 

 

USTATUS 

Allows the printer to send unsolicited status 
information 

 

USTATUSOFF 

Stops the printer sending all unsolicited status 
information

RDYMSG 
 

Replaces the READY message on the control 
panel 

 OPMSG 

 

Displays altered message on the control panel and 
takes the printer off-line 

 STMSG 

 

Displays altered message on the control panel and 
takes the printer off-line.  If status readback is 
enabled, returns name of the key.
