One-Touch keys
These 5 keys give you instant
access to 10 previously stored dial
numbers.

Shift (MFC-3220C only)
To access memory locations 6
through 10 in the One-Touch keys
hold down the Shift key.

Shift (FAX-1820C only)
To access memory locations 6
through 10 in the One-Touch keys,
or Report Menu in the
Ink/Report
key, hold down the
Shift
key.

Copy keys
(Temporary settings):
Options
You can quickly and easily select
temporary settings for copying.
Quality
Use this key to temporarily change
the quality for Copying.

Fax and telephone keys:
Redial/Pause
Redials the last number you called.
It also inserts a pause in auto dial
numbers.
Hook (MFC-3220C only)
Press before dialing if you want to
make sure a fax machine answers,
and then press
Black Start
or
Color
Start
.
Hook/Hold (FAX-1820C only)
Lets you dial telephone and fax
numbers without lifting the handset.

Lets you place telephone calls on
hold.
Fax Resolution
Sets the resolution when you send a
fax.

Dial Pad
Use these keys to dial telephone
and fax numbers and as a keyboard
for entering information into the
machine.
The

key lets you temporarily
switch the dialing mode during a
telephone call from Pulse to Tone.

Stop/Exit
Stops an operation or exits from the
menu.

Black Start
Lets you start sending faxes or
making copies in black and white.
Also for MFC models, lets you start
a scanning operation. (Color or
mono, depending on the scanning
setting on your PC)
Color Start
Lets you start sending faxes or
making copies in full color.
Also for MFC models, lets you start
a scanning operation. (Color or
mono, depending on the scanning
setting on your PC)

On/Off
You can turn the machine on or off.

Navigation keys:
Menu/Set
Lets you access the Menu to
program and store your settings in
the machine.
Volume
When using the speaker or during
ringing in fax mode, you can press
these keys to adjust the volume.
For fax model, you can adjust the
handset volume too.
