When sewing a straight stitch along the left edge of the fabric, you

can press the stitch width arrows to move the needle position from

left to right.  This allows you to adjust the distance of the stitches

from the edge of the fabric, while still allowing you to run the edge

of the foot along the edge of the fabric.

Keep the needle at the corner of the fabric, then raise the presser
foot and turn the fabric.

When stitching a hem less than .5 cm in width, baste corners,
change directions and pull the thread behind the foot while sew-
ing.
